Two team members collaborated two decades before The Avengers.
Although each Avengers member brings different and useful skills and traits to the team, their personalities initially clashed and it took them a while to get used to working together,
but some of them became close friends and even went on adventures together outside of Avengers missions.
After a poor start in The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) fought in Thor: Ragnarok, but they had previously met two decades before.
In The Avengers, Thor and Bruce Banner/the Hulk met for the first time and appeared in a dramatic moment when the Hulk punched Thor after they slew a Leviathan.
Thor and the Hulk become great friends after appearing in the TV movie The Incredible Hulk Returns two decades before The Avengers.
The Incredible Hulk Returns, directed by Nicholas Correa and premiered in 1988, continues the 1978-1982 TV series starring Bill Bixby as David Banner and Lou Ferrigno as Hulk.
Though Hulk had his own animated and live-action TV programs and two movies before the MCU, Thor and Hulk weren't Marvel Comics' most popular characters.
The MCU's more realistic tone helped develop Thor and Bruce Banner/the Hulk, increasing their appeal.
In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor finally exhibited his personality and sense of humor, making him one of the MCU's most adored characters and the first to receive four standalone movies.
While Banner/Hulk has also won over the fans, the MCU hasn't explored his tale, but he's clearly a better Hulk than the one in the TV programs and movies before The Avengers and the MCU.
