Republican congresswoman Lauren Boebert has filed for divorce from her husband, according to an announcement she made on Tuesday.
Boebert expressed the difficulty of the decision, acknowledging the years of marriage and their beautiful children who deserve privacy and love.
She emphasized her belief in marriage and stated that the divorce is due to irreconcilable differences.
Boebert stated her intention not to discuss the matter further in public, out of respect for their children, and she will continue to focus on representing Colorado's 3rd Congressional District.
Lauren Boebert and her husband, Jayson, had been married since 2007 and reside in Silt, Colorado, with their four sons.
The couple operated a restaurant in Rifle, but their lease was not renewed last summer.
Boebert, known for her staunch conservatism and outspoken Christian beliefs, announced in March that her 17-year-old son and his girlfriend were expecting a baby, making her a grandmother at the age of 36.
She successfully defended her seat in the November election after a close race with Democrat Adam Frisch, which led to a recount.
Adam Frisch has launched a second campaign to unseat Boebert.
