Vegas returns to the Western Conference final.
On Sunday night, the Golden Knights defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 in Game 6 of their second-round series to reach the semifinals for the fourth time in their six-year existence. Jonathan Marchessault scored three goals for his second career playoff hat trick.
“We’re only halfway done,” Marchessault added. “We’ll keep going until our organization wins the ultimate goal. Tonight is one step forward.”
Ivan Barbashev assisted on two Golden Knights goals by Reilly Smith and William Karlsson. Adin Hill saved 39 in his third postseason start.
“I’ve worked very hard my whole life to get to the NHL and be here,” said 27-year-old Hill. “I’m grateful and excited to be on a team that’s this good and has a chance to do it all.”
Vegas will play the winner of the Dallas-Seattle Game 7 on Monday night.
The Golden Knights still have six players from their initial 2017-18 Stanley Cup Final club.
Marchessault added, “We have a lot of older guys on the team that have been through a lot of situations. “We’re calm. Our strength will aid us in the future.”
