Brown was named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1965 and set numerous records during his career
After retiring from football, he pursued a successful acting career, appearing in over 30 films.
Brown was also a prominent civil rights advocate during the 1960s, using his platform to advance the cause of equality.
He organized "The Cleveland Summit" in 1967, bringing together top Black athletes to support Muhammad Ali's fight against serving in Vietnam.
Brown later worked to curb gang violence in Los Angeles and founded the Amer-I-Can program to help disadvantaged youth and ex-convicts.
Despite his achievements, Brown had a controversial personal life, including multiple arrests, mostly on charges of hitting women.
