After months of auditions, solo highs, goodbyes, duets, travels to California and Hawaii, America selected their Idol on Sunday night (May 21).
The winner of this 21st edition was revealed months before. The spectacular climax confirmed what many knew.
The ABC special gave Iam Tongi, Megan Danielle, and Colin Stough one more opportunity to wow fans with solo performances and duets with the stars.
Stars emerged with millions watching from home. Keith Urban, Kylie Minogue, Ellie Goulding, Lionel Richie, TLC, REO Speedwagon, Pitbull & Lil Jon, and others appeared onscreen.
Tongi and Danielle were America's final two. Only Tongi existed.
In recent months, Idol fans have fallen for the Hawaii highschooler with the wonderful voice and terrible narrative. Tongi gained fame with each performance.
On the final, he sang Keith Urban's "Making Memories of Us," "Cool Down," "I'll Be Seeing You," and "Monsters" with James Blunt.
Tongi received a recording deal after winning the yearly competition.
