16 dead and dozens injured in shootings across the U.S. over Memorial Day weekend
Memorial Day weekend shootings killed at least 16 people and wounded scores.
At least eight states had shootings at beaches, high schools, and motorcycle rallies. Teens to 60-year-olds died.
Gunfire ended the weekend. Police say a gunshot in Hollywood Beach, Florida, on Monday evening wounded nine individuals.
Police stated two groups fought, resulting in nine hospitalized casualties, perhaps including children. At a late news conference, Hollywood police spokesman Deanna Bettineschi said a suspect was sought and a person of interest seized.
NBC Chicago reported that Telemundo Chicago cameras filmed a fight on Chicago's North Avenue Beach Friday afternoon, the first gun violence of the holiday weekend. No one was hurt in the gunfight.
According to NBC Chicago, more than eight people were murdered and at least 32 wounded in Chicago shootings during the holiday weekend.
Despite the holiday weekend, gunshots were reported across the U.S. Pew Research Center data shows 57 gun-related killings per day in the U.S.
Officials told NBC News that two males argued in Baltimore about 3:30 p.m. Friday and shot five people.
