Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe may wonder if the superhero Peter Quill/Star-Lord would return for a potential Guardians of the Galaxy 4 now that the third instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise has been released in theatres and received praise from reviewers and moviegoers.
Chris Pratt’s career has been phenomenally fruitful, and he just achieved box office success with The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now, he is set to feature in the sequel to the superhero picture that catapulted him to the forefront of the film industry and established his career as a movie star. However, will we get to see more of Star-Lord if the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise gets a sequel set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? This is the most up-to-date information on the possibility of something happening.
Warning: the following paragraph contains Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 spoilers!
What does it imply when it says ‘Star-Lord will return’?
In the most recent instalment of the Guardians of the Galaxy film series, the last title card states, “Star-Lord Will Return.” This carries on a long-standing practice in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in which a title card is shown to the audience to inform them of the fate of their favourite characters and whether or not they will appear in future films. Zoe Saldana, who plays Gamora, and Dave Bautista, who plays Drax, have stated that this will be their final appearance in their respective roles.
Despite this, the title card indicates that Star-Lord will continue to exist inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Pratt has not ruled out returning to the role. “It would be strange to continue Peter’s story without James [Gunn],” Pratt stated in an interview with GamesRadar+.It would be incredibly essential to recognize what he’s done in the previous three films and to honour what the audience has grown to love about the character. It wouldn’t be enough to do it because people might turn up to pay for it. Honouring what he’s done is vital to continue telling the tale. I don’t want to have a cynical attitude toward the strategy, and if that turns out to be the case, I won’t engage in it at all. Therefore, if something makes sense in the future, I might consider doing it; however, for me to do so, it will need to fulfil many requirements.
Will there be a fourth instalment of Guardians of the Galaxy?
At this time, no concrete plans are in place for the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4. James Gunn, the director of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” was a guest on the podcast “Hero Nation” hosted by Deadline. He said, “This is the end for us, the last time people will see this Guardians team.” It seems unlikely that there will be a fourth film in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, given this comment, the feelings expressed by Pratt, and the fact that Gunn is now driving the push at DC.
On the other hand, we will see the characters that we like in the future. It has been established that Star-Lord will return. Still, he will likely do so in future films, similar to how he did in Marvel Cinematic Universe films such as Avengers: Infinity War and Thor: Love and Thunder. In addition, there is always the potential that we will run into other people we know in the future.
