Snoop Dogg and the businessman Neko Sparks are serious about their attempt to become owners of the Senators.
Snoop Dogg has confirmed once again, in an interview with The Athletic, that he intends to “put his foot in the town” if the proposal that includes Sparks, Snoop Dogg, and more than a dozen other investors is selected as the successful one.
Snoop Dogg told The Athletic, “This ain’t no joke or any kind of gimmick.” “Or a drama based on resemblance or images. This is a true ownership move that can be made.”
Snoop Dogg stated that fans would see him “at least six times a year,” with that vague figure growing to ten if the Senators made the playoffs. Snoop Dogg also stated that he wanted to be a “community activist” inside the city, consistent with the view that Snoop Dogg voiced Tuesday on ESPN’s “First Take.”
“I’ve been watching hockey for about 25 years now, and I’m watching more and more kids that look like I play the game, but I’m not seeing it being offered to the kids over here in America,” Snoop Dogg remarked “First Take,” alongside Stephen A. Smith. Smith was also a guest on the show. “And then the goal that we have is also to go and develop a Snoop Youth hockey league outside of Canada so that children living in urban areas can learn about hockey, play the sport, and find opportunities to enter into this beautiful activity that is known as hockey.
Snoop Dogg is a member of an ownership group working on acquiring the Ottawa Senators. This group was seen at the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference.
“Because right now, the NBA and the NHL are having some great playoff games, and the kids need to know that there is an option to play hockey if you look like me.”
Since the team’s sale became official in November, with the requirement that the team needed to remain in Ottawa, the inclusion of Snoop Dogg in the bid for the Senators was the latest turn in the sale of the group. Snoop Dogg was a bidder for the team.
The Associated Press had previously reported that Senators owner Eugene Melnyk’s former intentions were to bequeath the franchise to his two daughters before his death in March of 2022. Melnyk passed away that month.

However, when the board of directors for Senators Sports & Entertainment disclosed the steps taken to begin selling the team, it kicked off a process that, according to ESPN, could end with the final offer being for more than one billion dollars.
Snoop Dogg stated in an interview with The Athletic that he wants “Ottawa because Ottawa wants me,” and he went on to say that the “thriving” city will see its hockey club do a “U-turn once we get ownership.”
The last time the Senators participated in the postseason was in the 2016–17 campaign when they went to the Eastern Conference final before losing to Pittsburgh in seven games.
Tim Stutzle, age 21, and Brady Tkachuk, age 23, led the Ottawa Senators in scoring during the 2022–2023 season, which resulted in the Senators finishing in sixth place in the Atlantic Division.
