The home that formerly belonged to Taylor Swift and served as the basis for a complete song is now up for rent once more. However, the house on Cornelia Street comes with a hefty price tag attached to it.
The real estate broker, Laurence Carty, confirmed to TMZ that the townhouse would be put up for sale and that it would be available for a monthly rent of $49,500 for 12 months. Carty claims that the owner would contemplate a sale price in response to a request to do so.
Swift moved into the townhouse in 2016 and remained there until sometime in 2017, when she resided since one of her three residences in Tribeca was getting repairs. Because of the importance of her time spent in the townhouse, she chronicled it in the song “Cornelia Street,” which was included in her album “Lover,” released in 2019.
Specifics of the property
In Manhattan’s West Village, at 23 Cornelia Street, there is a townhouse reported as having four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and around 5500 square feet of living space. In addition to an indoor swimming pool, this home has three gas fireplaces and hardwood flooring throughout.
“Yes, this is the home that was constructed by the song. The official listing described the property as “famous as the former residence of superstar Taylor Swift, built-in 1870 as a carriage house and transformed into a spectacular home with a modernist flair with a celebrity tested, drive-right-in garage and pool, nestled in the heart of the West Village.”
The Cornelia Street Ode by Jonathan Swift
Swift makes many references to the rental house in the 2019 tune. One of the lines of the song goes like this: “I rent a place on Cornelia Street, I say casually in the car.”
Fans of Swift think that the song also refers to Joe Alwyn, Swift’s boyfriend at the time. October of 2016 marked the beginning of the couple’s courtship when she was still a tenant at the home.
The following lines in the song are the ones that fans feel refer to her ex-boyfriend: “And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends // I’d never walk Cornelia Street again // That’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend.”
Reportedly, since her time on Cornelia Street, Taylor Swift now spends her time in New York City in her Tribeca Penthouse, which she acquired for $18 million in 2017. This transaction took place in 2017. In 2011, when he was under house arrest for an alleged sexual assault, former French politician Dominique Strauss-Kahn resided at a penthouse on Franklin Street.
In 2014, Taylor Swift paid $19.95 million to acquire a penthouse duplex located a couple of doors down from the mansion. It is said that during his career, the artist has invested $47.7 million in buildings in the Tribeca neighborhood.
