One of those guys was the former star at TCU named Desmond Bane, who, according to several sources, has reached an agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies to extend his deal for a maximum of $207 million over the next five years. It is the richest contract that has ever been signed by a basketball player for the Horned Frogs, and it is apparently one of the highest contracts that have been agreed to during this free-agent signing season. Bane has had an outstanding beginning to his professional career, as evidenced by the fact that he had an average of 21.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.7 assists throughout the 2022-23 season.

He has established himself as a sniper for the Grizzlies and as one of the best shooters in the game. Additionally, this deal makes Bane the first player in Grizzlies franchise history to accept to terms of a contract worth more than $200 million. The point guard, who was suspended for 25 games for conduct that was detrimental to the league, will continue to be a key member of a youthful core for the team that also features the forward Jaren Jackson Jr. During the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft, the player known as Bane was chosen with the 30th overall choice.

Bane’s role has risen over the previous two seasons, with the former TCU standout continuing to develop his all-around game and becoming more of a go-to scorer on the offensive end. During his rookie season, Bane was mostly a three-and-D role player; however, his position has grown significantly since then. Due in large part to Bane’s presence on the team, Memphis has qualified for the postseason in each of the past three campaigns, most recently going all the way to the Western Conference Semifinals in the 2021-22 season.
