Chrissy Teigen’s lifelong goal of having four children has been fulfilled.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Teigen disclosed that she and her husband John Legend had their fourth child through surrogacy. It was “just minutes before midnight” on June 19 that their baby Wren was born, according to Teigen.
After losing her son, Jack, at 20 weeks of pregnancy in 2020, Teigen shared her experience of working with a surrogate in an Instagram post.

The model stated, “For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children.” When I was a small kid, I always had two glow worms and two cabbage patch dolls in my arms so they could help me pretend to cook.
She went on to say that after the loss of Jack, she had doubted her ability to bear another child. “A lot of what I was thinking at the time has been blocked out, but I do remember being surrounded by people who cared about making sure I never had to go through that kind of loss and pain again.”
Teigen said that she and her husband planned to use a surrogacy service in 2021 to have their third and fourth children carried by two tandem surrogates.
“I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs, and said to John — I want to try to carry just one more time,” Teigen said of her decision to alter her mind early in the couple’s surrogacy adventure.
As a result of making that choice, Teigen went through IVF again and gave birth to Esti Maxine Stephens in January.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are “so grateful” to reveal the newborn girl’s name and their first adorable photo.
While this was happening, “We also met the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine, Alexandra,” Teigen added. Upon our first conversation with her, I was convinced that she was the right person for us.
“The first embryo we tried with Alex didn’t survive, and I will never forget how hard she fought to get ready for a second transfer,” the model recalled. We were pleased to discover that Alexandra had conceived a baby boy as I was nearing the end of my own pregnancy. To the tiny kid in our family.
“We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched Vanderpump Rules with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year,” Teigen said. The most beautiful lady I have ever seen, my friend and our surrogate, gave birth minutes before midnight on June 19th amidst some commotion, but with courage, pure joy, and love.
Wren Alexander Stephens is the baby’s complete name, and towards the conclusion of Teigen’s post, she provided some gorgeous photographs of the new addition to the family, as well as a shot with their surrogate Alexandra, who will be “forever connected” to the child.
Both our hearts and our house can no longer hold any more. To wrap up her article, Teigen said, “And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you.”
