Ja Morant, star point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, will not be able to participate in the opening games of the 2023–24 NBA season because of a ban.

Morant was punished for his off-court conduct, which included the casual and, actually, showboating manner in which he displayed firearms.

However, the Grizzlies’ star seems determined to regain his form.

On Sunday, Morant sent notice to the rest of the league.

His words, “everything is being noted,” echoed around the room.

Naturally, that’s good, but Morant deservedly got suspended. Given penalties handed down to players like Gilbert Arenas in the past, Morant should count himself fortunate that his punishment wasn’t more severe.

When Morant comes back to the court, everyone should take notice.
