It’s reassuring to know that “everyone loves stories and long-ago adventures told by Grandpa,” the author says.
The 84-year-old filmmaker of classics like The Godfather and Apocalypse Now made the statement during his maiden foray into social media to promote his upcoming project. Megalopolis
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes (among many others) Adam Driver, Forest Whitaker, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Lawrence Fisburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, Talia Shire, Dustin Hoffman, and D.B. Sweeney.
The director of “The Godfather” and “The Godfather Part II” explained his decision to join Twitter for the first time by saying, “my hope is to give you a glimpse into my life and journey in making the most interesting film of my career, @Megalopolisfilm.” The director’s most recent film was Megalopolis.
This should clear up some of the confusion around one of the most ambitious initiatives Coppola has ever undertaken in his very fruitful career.
Fans were eager to express their respect for one of the most important directors of all time when Coppola decided to join social media, regardless of the reason for his choice.
Many showed excessive enthusiasm.
Thank you very much! An ardent fan once said, “Your Dracula is one of my all-time favorites, and there’s a good chance my mom is watching one of your Godfather flicks right now.”
“Yes! “A living legend and genius filmmaker, he gives us all a Mega reason to go back to the movies!” said another.
An other commenter said, “You are a significant source of motivation for my screenwriting and drive as a filmmaker.” I know you hear this often, but you truly are a living legend, sir. Yes, I’m sure you do.
Some of the praise was explicit:

Actor Cary Elwes, known for roles in films like “The Princess Bride,” “Glory,” “Saw,” and “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning,” said, “Benvenuto, Francis.”
Director and head of DC movies James Gunn also wrote and directed the Guardians of the Galaxy film, and he said, “Welcome, my friend.”
There were also a few hilarious warnings thrown in.
When asked about the horrors of social media, one audience member warned, “Be careful – social media is a bigger horror show than making Apocalypse Now.”
