YouTube star Colleen Ballinger has addressed allegations that she had improper encounters with minors. Ballinger is best known for creating the uncomfortable character Miranda Sings, who shot an online celebrity.
Ballinger rejected the “lies” and “gossip” about her in a video posted Wednesday to her Colleen Vlogs account on YouTube, in which she also sang and strummed a ukulele.

At the outset of the 10-minute video, she stated, “Some people are saying things about me that just aren’t true.” To continue, she stated, “Even though my team has strongly advised me not to say what I’m going to say, I realized they never said I couldn’t sing about what I want to say.”
According to Ballinger, “I used to message my fans — but not in a creepy way, like a lot of you are trying to suggest,” when she first started out on YouTube. A loser’s manner, if you will. I was simply making an effort to become everyone’s best friend. Ballinger added, “There were times in DMs when I would overshare,” but she has since “changed my behavior and taken accountability.”
The singer sang, “Thought you wanted me to take accountability / but that’s not the point of your mob mentality / your goal is to ruin the life of the person you despise / while you dramatize your lies and monetize their demise.” There was a recurrent chorus in the video when she referred to the claims against her as “the toxic gossip train.”
And she said, “I’m sure you’re disappointed in my shitty little song / I know you wanted me to say that I was 100% in the wrong / well I’m sorry I’m not gonna take that route / of admitting to lies and rumors that you made up for clout.”
Ballinger has responded to accusations that her strange, childlike character Miranda Sings has said things that are inappropriate for kids by saying that she makes it clear her Miranda Sings content is “PG-13” in nature (and the videos are not available on the YouTube Kids app) and that it is the responsibility of parents to decide what is and is not appropriate for their children to view.
NBC News states that the charges against Ballinger were originally made public three years ago. Ballinger allegedly “formed an inappropriate personal friendship with him while he was between the ages of 13 and 16,” the report states. This allegedly included sending him underwear as a joke. For years, he and Ballinger, he claimed, “exchanged text messages, he had access to her social media, and he helped her come up with content ideas.”
Ballinger said she had made “jokes in poor taste” and “dumb mistakes” in her video, but she questioned whether or not “manipulation” was her purpose. No.”
She said, “I never had any bad intentions if that’s what it comes down to.” “But I really do feel like shit.”
