Polaris’ main guitarist, Ryan Siew, was only 26 years old when he passed away.
The band shared the tragic news on Tuesday, June 21 via their Instagram account. Siew joined the group in 2013 and passed away on June 19.
His demise at such a young age has devastated his many admirers and admirers.
Polaris made a touching Instagram tribute
Polaris paid Siew a touching homage on Instagram, recalling some of his favorite things including Harry Potter, psychological thrillers, and crime documentaries.
Siew had previously opened up about his battles with depression and brain fog on Instagram in January, and while the post didn’t specify the cause of his death, supporters believe it may be tied to those issues.

What is brain fog?
Brain fog, from a medical perspective, is characterized by impaired memory and cognitive functioning. The inability to think clearly and the sensation that memorization is slow and hazy are also symptoms of brain fog.
A Glimpse into Siew’s Career as a great guitarist
In 2013, Siew became a member of the Sydney band Polaris.
The album The Mortal Coil by Polaris, to which he contributed significantly in 2017, was nominated for Best Hard Rock at the 2018 ARIA Awards.
Following the success of their sophomore effort, 2020’s The Death of Me, Polaris took home the trophy for Best Album at the Rolling Stone Australia Awards in 2021.
Polaris’s most recent appearance was on June 18 sans Siew.
In September, Polaris will release their third studio album, titled Fatalism.
On June 18th, the band last played together sans Siew at the Graspop Metal Meeting in Belgium.
On June 20, Polaris said they will cancel the rest of their European tour “due to a serious personal crisis in our family.”
