Study finds improved survival in patients with SLE-associated PAH
A group from the Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing, China, looked at how the symptoms, treatments...
, and 5-year mortality rates of people with SLE-related PAH have changed in the last 10 years, as well as what might have caused the changes.
This is the biggest prospective multi-center SLE-PAH cohort that has been done so far to describe the symptoms and outlook of the disease.
At the 2023 annual congress of EULAR, the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology, the findings were presented.
A prospective multi-center group of 610 people with SLE-related PAH was made. These people were split into cohorts A and B based on when they had a right heart catheterization.
Generation A was from 2011 to 2016, and Generation B was from 2016 to 2021.
At the same time, 104 people with idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension (IPAH) were chosen as a control group from a single center to find out about their baseline characteristics and how long they lived.
Cohorts A and B were compared in terms of the type of disease, the treatment plan, and all-cause death.
