NFL Network reporter Jane Slater has requested prayers for the NFL community.
Slater said that her mother is undergoing treatment for stage four cancer, but the family is hoping she will get well.
On Thursday, Slater provided an update on the unfortunate situation through a tweet.
“Hoping to take advantage of the power that Twitter provides here. We are looking for forward-thinking, cutting-edge medical professionals working on novel treatments for advanced small-cell lung cancer. The chemotherapy did not work. Immunotherapy did not prevent the development of the tumour. Radiation and further chemotherapy are options that are being considered. Please direct message,” she asked.
The community of athletes is lifting Slater’s family in prayer, and it is heartening to witness the outpouring of support.

Slater said that her mother was able to spend Christmas with the rest of Slater’s family, and she expressed her hope that the family will be able to do so in the future.
Slater expressed his gratitude on Twitter by writing, “Christmas was just a little extra special this year.” “I love you so much, mom. I pray that she will not give up and that God will give her more grace than the medical professionals have.” It was the best day of a year that otherwise consisted of many really challenging times. Can we not talk about cancer?”
Slater and her family are in our thoughts and prayers.
