In an update that might have disappointed fans, director James Gunn revealed details on the relationship between Rocket Raccoon and Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

James Gunn expressed his surprise at the ending of Avengers: Endgame, where Chris Hemsworth's Thor joins the Guardians, in an interview with Rolling Stone published in April.

Gunn expressed amazement at not having been told of this choice. Gunn had not expected the scene to make the cut, but Marvel Studios chose to include it in post-production.
